Cashback when you shop
One of the most recent innovations on the Internet are "cashback websites": where you can earn money every time you buy something. Through these websites, you go and buy what you were going to buy anyway but THEY PAY YOU MONEY for buying it.
How does this work?
You buy things, don't you? You go to a shop and buy stuff... normal stuff... things you were going to buy anyway. You might go into a shop called, let's say "AZ Electrical", and buy a "gizmo". You pay £100. The shop gets your £100 and make... whatever profit they make.
Many High Street shops pay commissions to websites (especially those "price comparison" websites) that refer buyers to their online shop. So, if "AZ Electrical" were one of these, they will pay a commission to any website that sends customers to the AZ Electrical online shop.
A lot of price comparison websites are set up to direct you to online shops and they get a commission every time someone buys something. You might go to one of these price comparison websites and it sends you, through a link, to the "AZ Electrical" website. You buy your gizmo for £100 - the same £100 that you would have spent if you walked into the High Street branch of AZ Electrical. HOWEVER, the website that sent you to the AZ Electrical website earns money from you! They get commission from AZ Electrical - some of your £100 goes to the "referring website"!
Cashback websites give you a way of getting some of that commission for yourself - they give you a share of the commission: money that you would otherwise never have a chance of getting! The "cashback" websites refer you, again through a link, to an online shop where you can buy your gizmo BUT they share the commission with you - so you get cash back every time you buy something.
If you checked the cashback websites every time you were going to buy something and bought your "gizmo", or whatever, via them you would be earning money every time you bought something!
1000's of High Street shops and businesses are signed up with these cashback sites and there are special offers as well as cash back deals to be had. So whether you are buying electrical goods or insurance or music or clothing or wine or a gift for someone - buy it online via a "cashback" website and earn money every time you shop!
